City of Red Deer Requests Help in Limiting Water Use During Flooding

June 18, 2005

The City of Red Deer is requesting all citizens' support in limiting water use during the flooding emergency.

Today, the Wastewater Treatment Plant has a high volume of water flowing into the plant. This is the result of river flooding. There is danger than any extra waste water will cause overflowing. Overflowing is a danger that will cause pollution of treated drinking water. The City is asking citizens to help prevent this risk. Citizens should

- refrain from washing clothes or running the dishwasher
- limit the number of baths and showers taken and the length of time in the shower
- never leave taps running unnecessarily

Additional new releases will be sent out as more information is available.
